Ellen Gilland — the woman accused of fatally shooting her terminally ill husband in his hospital room at AdventHealth in Daytona Beach — is scheduled to enter a plea Tuesday morning, according to court records and prosecutors.
Gilland, 78, is expected to enter a plea as charged during a hearing set to start at 8:30 a.m. before Circuit Judge Kathryn Weston.
Gilland was indicted on a charge of assisting self-murder/manslaughter — a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Gilland had initially been charged with first-degree murder in her husband's killing but that charge was dropped
